So I finally found a way to indulge in sugar that is actually good for me and makes my skin glow. I knew I would eventually.
A few weeks ago I went to an eco-beauty workshop by Maya Goldenberg, which you can read about here. One of the things we created, was a do-it-yourself sugar lip scrub and I ended up using it as an invigorating body polish in the shower this morning. My skin was left feeling as smooth and as yummy as toffee.
Exfoliation is one of my favourite ways to get healthy and glowing skin. It helps to remove dead skin cells (allowing fresh ones to be exposed), it allows moisturiser, masks etc. to penetrate deeper and promotes blood flow to cells giving them life and energy.
Check out this gorgeous recipe by Goldenberg for an organic sugar scrub which is a real sweet treat and will do wonders for your skin in the upcoming winter.
1/4 cup light brown sugar
1/8 cup organic almond, jojoba or olive oil.
1 drop of DoTerra lemon, grapefruit, wild orange or peppermint essential oil.
In a glass jar, place your sugar and add the oil slowly, stirring until the desired consistency is achieved. For a runnier scrub, use more oil, less for a more sugary consistency.
Add the essential oil at the end for flavour.
Tip: To use, simply apply a dime sized amount with clean fingers or toothbrush on a moistened lip and scrub gently. Rinse. Close jar and store in a cool dry place.
